All classes are taught by highly accomplished teachers with B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Dance.
The competition team is for students who want to train on a committed and more serious level. Students will attend classes a minimum of two times per week with rehearsal/choreography classes on Mondays and Saturdays (These practices are Mandatory). The other core and recital classes are on Wednesdays and Fridays. The team will participate in competitions, workshops and events. Competitive students are required to take all classes provided. Evaluations will be held each year to determine technical placement and group selection for competition. A class on Fridays will be offered for students choosing to perform solos & duet/trios with an additional option for individual half hour private lessons at the private lesson cost. Classes will be determined by a combination of age/ability. Levels may vary from year to year at the discretion of the Director. Group Selections do not coincide with the technique placement. There are different cast lists for each group often combining different ages and abilities. The goal of the competitive team is to gain performance opportunities while working as a team. A code of conduct contract will be required upon commitment to the Company.
See ScheduleThe adult combo class is for adults ages 18 & up. This class will cover a wide range of material. The genres and styles will change from week to week. There will be a heavy focus on Hip Hop combinations and conditioning, as well as stretching and tackling other styles of dance. This is a fun class no matter what level you are as a dancer. You will be pushed to be the best you can be as an individual.
See ScheduleA continuation of Creative Movement in a one hour class setting. This combo class covers Pre-Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro/Gymnastics and Hip Hop. Class will be alternated from week to week to give students exposure to all dance forms. Students will perform their two strongest genres in routines for the recital at the end of the year. Combo Class introduces a structured environment while allowing children to recognize their own individuality and body mobility. Focus is on coordination and rhythm introduced in creative and imaginative ways. Keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance.
See ScheduleTap produces a lively and structured form of motion that is provided by the rhythmic sound of the dancer’s shoes. This class will teach students to be percussive musicians using the rhythm and movement created by their shoes. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats in their music and their bodies.
See ScheduleThis class will introduce students to the basic vocabulary and style of Hip Hop movement. Hip Hop is about personal style and expression. This high energy class can be taught to anyone with a passion to move. Beginner/Intermediate levels and Advanced level Hip Hop are offered.
See ScheduleThis class teaches Jazz dance with a focus on Broadway and Musical styles. The dancers will be encouraged to express themselves through movement and dance as they learn how to “act” through the body. Improvisational skills are incorporated as well. This is a fun class that helps students gain confidence and leads them on the path to becoming triple threats.
See ScheduleContemporary dance is a free form of Jazz with a strong emphasis on Modern movement. Students will be taught dances and movements like those seen on the show “So You Think You Can Dance.” Lyrical dance is a mixture of Ballet and Jazz with a focus on telling a story through strong emotions and movement.
See ScheduleThis class includes all floor tumbling. The dancers will learn various acrobatic skills, such as cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, arials, tucks, etc. Movements are performed on gymnastics mats placed over our sprung floors for maximum protection. Students will learn various acrobatic balances and gain muscle control. Beginner/Intermediate levels and Advanced level Acro/Gymnastics classes are offered.
See ScheduleThis class combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Students will learn the different forms and styles of Jazz dance including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, Contemporary and Lyrical. Jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.
See ScheduleStudents will learn dancing on pointe, the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, this form of dance is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill, thus prior permission from instructor is required before students begin taking pointe classes. Two ballet classes are required along with pointe class.
See ScheduleThis class requires a minimum of 2-3 years of ballet training and is by instructor placement only!
The Advanced level challenges students with more complex combinations at the barre and in the center. Students will work on fluidity of movement, balance, and combinations.
Students will be taught advanced stretching and strengthening exercises as well as continued barre work with a greater emphasis on vocabulary and French terminology. Musicality will be emphasized along with balance and coordination through the strengthening of the body core. Center work is introduced with continued focus on the positions of the arms, legs and feet using classical ballet vocabulary.
